In contemporary data-intensive research and programming, Python occupies a prime spot. As a general purpose programming language, Python is highly scalable, powerful and versatile framework for data analysis and visualization. We see Python as a valuable addition to the methodological toolset of social and behavioral scientists.
This workshop introduces Python as a framework and tool for data analysis and visualization. The objective of this workshop is not teaching programming but to get participants started on manipulating data using powerful libraries available for analysis and graphics.
This workshop will cover several Python modules useful for data export, import and analysis. Topics include: (1) Numpy; (2) Scipy; (3) Pandas; and (4) StatsModels. Plus, some basic Python programming concepts will be discussed.
